Fortnite Season 5 has been unveiled by Epic for the first time recently, after much speculation and teasing. In this complete Fortnite Season 5 guide, we’ll be walking you through all the certain details that we know so far about the event, including the final Fortnite Seaosn 5 release date, as well as the Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass cost. There’s also speculation on the overall Fortnite Season 5 theme, as well as potential Fortnite Season 5 skins that Epic could be introducing once the event launches.
But if you instead want a full guide to everything available right now in Fortnite Battle Royale, you’ll want to head over to our Fortnite Season 4 guides hub. Here you’ll be able to find a complete walkthrough guide for everything that was introduced back at the beginning of Season 4, so you’ve got an idea of the things to come in Season 5 for Fortnite.
When Does Fortnite Season 5 Start?
Back on June 27, Epic revealed that the Fortnite Season 5 release date is Thursday, July 12. You can see the global times that the seasonal event is set to go live at just below:
- 12 am PST
- 3 am EST
- 8 am GMT
- 9 am CEST
Seasoned Fortnite players will notice that this update to introduce Season 5 is going live on a Thursday, the typical day that Epic uses to push out Fortnite updates. It’s merely an hour before the Weekly Challenges in Fortnite go live however, so we’ll have to wait and see whether the Week 1, Season 5 Challenges for Battle Royale will be going live an hour after Season 5 launches.
Fortnite Season 5 Countdown
But will there be any sort of countdown event for Fortnite Season 5? As we detail further down, it was the comet that began the in-game countdown till the launch of Fortnite Season 4, and it’s entirely possible that Epic could pull off another stunt like this to promote the launch of Season 5. Perhaps we might see the launch of the rockets scattered all over the Battle Royale map for the first time, or maybe something entirely different.
One thing that should be noted is that there’s currently a timer counting down in Fortnite Battle Royale. The timer is set to end on Saturday, June 30, at 10:30 am PST/1:30 pm EST. We don’t yet know what the timer is counting down to, and it could potentially be something to do with Fortnite Season 5.
Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass Cost
But what about the cost of entry for Season 5? Fortnite Battle Royale is completely free to download after all, but if you want entry to all the seasonal events when they launch in the game, you always have to pay up in V-Bucks, the microtransaction currency that Fortnite uses.
While we don’t yet know the exact cost in V-Bucks for the Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass, it should be noted that the base version of the Season 4 Battle Pass cost 950 V-Bucks back when it launched earlier this year. This equates to a cost of $9.99, and until we hear otherwise from Epic themselves, it’s fairly safe to assume that we’ll be asked to pay this amount again to purchase the Season 5 Battle Pass.
It’s also worth noting that the Season 4 Battle Pass for Fortnite unlocked two skins as soon as it was purchased: the Carbide and Battlehawk cosmetic outfits. It’s highly likely that the Season 5 Battle Pass could push out purchase rewards like this, but as always we’ll update this guide once we hear any additional information.
Fortnite Season 5 Theme
Back when Fortnite Season 4 was on the horizon, there were tons of fan theories about the upcoming event doing the rounds. One of the more popular ones was that a comet in the sky would completely destroy Tilted Towers when the event began. This wasn’t what happened when Season 4 launched, as the comet instead largely hit Dusty Depot, turning it into Dusty Divot, with one main building in the middle of a huge crater.
So what could the theme for Fortnite Season 5 be? As of right now, there’s not a whole lot of information out there as to the theme of the upcoming seasonal event. We’ll be sure to update this guide over the coming days with any new information, as well as popular fan theories.
Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass Skins
So far, there’s absolutely no information out there on the potential Fortnite Season 5 skins. However as we mentioned earlier in this guide, we’re expecting that purchasing the Season 5 Battle Pass will earn you at least one new character skin, just like how the Season 4 Battle Pass rewarded you with the Carbide and Battlehawk skins. We’ll keep this section updated for when Epic announces any new details for the Fortnite Season 5 skins.
For now though, you can head over to our best Fortnite skins page, which we’ll be updating once the new cosmetics for Season 5 have been revealed. You can also check out our Fortnite Week 9 Challenges guide, which are set to go live on June 28.
