Hello Games has announced No Man’s Sky Beyond, a new major expansion to No Man’s Sky. The update will include, among other things, No Man’s Sky Online, which expands upon the game’s multiplayer functionality.
Speaking in a press release, Hello Games creator Sean Murray revealed that No Man’s Sky Beyond is the next chapter for the game. It will include three major parts, the first being No Man’s Sky Online. The other two parts were not detailed, with news said to be planned ‘in the coming weeks’.
While No Man’s Sky Online is described as a multiplayer experience, Murray is quick to distance it from other MMO experiences:
“Whilst this brings people together like never before, and has many recognisable online elements, we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO – it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players.”
We don’t know too much more about No Man’s Sky Beyond, or No Man’s Sky Online, only that it is coming Summer 2019 and will be free for all players.
« Beyond will be our most ambitious chapter so far, and something we’ve been working ridiculously hard on. We’ll continue to support No Man’s Sky in this way for the foreseeable future. »
No Man’s Sky Beyond follows the NEXT expansion that dropped late last year. It added an impressive breadth of content, from a third-person view to updated visuals. For more on No Man’s Sky, be sure to check out our No Man’s Sky Guides Hub.
