Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion Guide – Price, All the Brand New Content

The Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion has finally released worldwide, after being revealed and then teased by Nintendo for months. In this full Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion guide, we’ll be walking you through firstly how much the price tag of the expansion is going to cost you, and then how to access all the brand new content you’ve just unlocked, including 80 challenging single player levels as Agent 8.

The Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion was one of the big features of Nintendo’s whole E3 2018 week in LA, which we were on the ground for. Head over to our full Nintendo E3 2018 recap page, where we’ll be going back over everything of note that the publisher announced, including Smash Bros., Fire Emblem, and more.

Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion Guide

The Octo Expansion was first announced for Splatoon 2 back in March of this year. You can see the debut trailer for the expansion DLC pack just below, which introduced us to the brand new character of Agent 8.

Agent 8 looks different to the standard playable characters in Splatoon 2, and this is because she’s an Octoling, marking the first time we’d be able to play as the creatures in the Splatoon series. You could also see the Deep Sea Metro for the first time in this new trailer, which we’d be using to access all the brand new content. You can also see Pearl and Marina in new outfits during the trailer, which make the pair look quite similar to Biggie and Tupac.

How Much Does the Octo Expansion Cost?

As for how to obtain the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion content for yourself, you’ll firstly have to head to the Nintendo eShop on the Switch. Since the Octo Expansion isn’t listed as its own item on the eShop, you’ll have to go onto the product page for Splatoon 2, and then scroll down to other items underneath the main listing. You’ll then see the Octo Expansion product listing, and you can purchase it for $19.99/£17.99.

Once you’ve purchased the Octo Expansion via the Nintendo eShop, it’s time to update your copy of Splatoon 2. The Octo Expansion released for Splatoon 2 right around 7 pm PST/10 pm EST on June 13, and is out right now worldwide. The update required to install the expansion is a fair few megabytes, so don’t be surprised if it takes upwards of 20 minutes to install.

As for what the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion actually features, there’s over 80 brand new levels as part of a new single player campaign. This is the main story in which Agent 8 recovers her lost memories, but there’s also the ability to play as an Octoling for the first time in the Splatoon 2 multiplayer. Check out some screens of some of the Octo Expansion levels just below:

As soon as you’ve unlocked the new DLC, you’ll also have a load of new cosmetic items for your Inkling or Octoling to equip. Check out just a sample of all the new cosmetic items on offer, just below:

This is all the information you need to access all the brand new content that the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion has in store. We’ll make sure to update this guide in the future, when we’ve uncovered any additional features and secrets that the brand new Octo Expansion holds.
